SF Streets Opened After Bomb Squad Investigation

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5 / BCN) ― Muni buses were rerouted after police closed the 2700 block of 16th Street in San Francisco at about 8:40 a.m. Friday as authorities investigated a suspicious device in the area, police and Muni officials said.

About 11:00 a.m., the device was determined to pose no threat.

San Francisco police received a call about the suspicious device at 8:25 a.m. Police said 16th Street had to be closed eastbound at Folsom Street and westbound between Folsom and Treat Avenue.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency announced at 10:15 a.m. that the 12-Folsom and 53-Southern Heights Muni buses were rerouted due to the incident.

The agency temporarily rerouted the 22-Fillmore and 33-Stanyan buses via 17th Street between South Van Ness and Potrero avenues after the street was shut down, Muni spokesman Judson True said.
