Felony Traffic Stop Leads To Sacto Murder Suspect
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS) ―
A 51-year-old man was arrested in San Francisco Saturday morning on suspicion of fatally shooting a 20-year-old woman and injuring her mother in Sacramento on Wednesday, Sgt. Wilfred Williams said.
At about 8:10 a.m., a San Francisco police officer began to follow Ronald Mitchell's vehicle traveling east on Geary Boulevard at 12th Avenue after seeing him cut off traffic by making an "unsafe left turn," according to Williams.
The officer managed to get the license plate number and was informed by dispatch that the vehicle was wanted out of Sacramento, Williams said.
Other officers responded and Mitchell was pulled over on a felony traffic stop at 3355 Geary Blvd. near Avenue where he was taken into custody without incident.
Upon further investigation, police determined Mitchell was wanted in connection with a homicide in Sacramento, Williams said.
Mitchell, a Sacramento resident, is suspected of killing a 20-year-old girl and injuring her mother in a shooting early Wednesday morning, according to Williams.
