Man Suspected Of Murdering His Mom Arrested In SF

SANTA ROSA (BCN) ― A 41-year-old man suspected of fatally stabbing his mother in Santa Rosa on Sept. 27 was arrested Friday afternoon in San Francisco, according to Santa Rosa police.

Police had issued a warrant on Oct. 2 for Christopher Lavis, who was detained Friday for allegedly defrauding an innkeeper at a restaurant in the 100 block of Jefferson Street. San Francisco police confirmed Lavis' identity and arrested him without incident.

Santa Rosa police then went to San Francisco and took custody of Lavis, who was returned to Santa Rosa and booked at the Sonoma County Jail on the murder charge.

Lavis' mother, a 63-year-old Santa Rosa woman named Constance Elizabeth LaSalle, was found in her condominium in the 300 block of Stony Point Road on Sept. 27. A preliminary autopsy indicated she died of multiple stab wounds, police said.
