With unemployment at 9 percent in California and Bay Area companies laying off workers daily, it seems unlikely that there would be job opportunities.
But you would be wrong.
Hundreds of people lined up for a chance to apply for 1,700 job openings offered Tuesday at the HIREvent job fair at San Francisco's Hotel Whitcomb.
The event was co-sponsored by CBS 5 and the California Job Journal.
Some of the companies with job openings included PG&E, the University of San Francisco, Stanford Medical Center, Golden Gate University, Manpower, the California Highway Patrol, and City College of San Francisco.
If you missed the event but still want to connect with these employers, please click on the link to the right of this article to participate now in a 'virtual' job fair.
