Beyonce, Foo Fighters Say Yes To Grammy

NEW YORK (CBS) ― Two artists have weighed in on whether or not the Grammys should go on in the wake of the Writers Guild of America strike.

The Recording Academy, which organizes the event, issued a statement Thursday quoting Beyonce and the Foo Fighters confirming their attendance at the event, scheduled for Feb. 10 in Los Angeles.

"The work of The Recording Academy is vital to the music industry, and we have every intention of being with the entire music community to celebrate the Grammy's 50th birthday in February," said music manager Mathew Knowles. "Beyonce, as well as my other artists, Solange and Trinitee 5:7, have been asked to participate and will do so. We have an incredible Beyonce performance that will be announced soon. We wish the Grammys the best."

Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters said, "We're participating in 'My Grammy Moment' because it creates opportunities. Opportunities to write, compose, play and study music - skills that absolutely need to be passed on to generations to come. And thanks to 'My Grammy Moment,' a musician from that next generation is going to get the chance to audition on YouTube to play with us at the Grammys as part of our orchestra."

The Recording Academy, as well as leaders of the American Federation of Musicians and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists have urged the Writers Guild of America to accept a waiver from the show's producers to allow striking writers to work on the show.
