SUNNYVALE (CBS 5 / KCBS) ― Sunnyvale-based search engine Yahoo! has until this weekend to respond to a buyout offer from Microsoft.

Microsoft claims its buyout offer of more than $43 billion is still on the table, but the software giant is reportedly looking at other alternatives.

Microsoft executives say they have big plans for their third-place MSN service, even without Yahoo!.

Speaking during the company's quarterly earnings report, Microsoft executives said they had no plans to raise their bid for Yahoo!.

Earlier this week, Yahoo! posted a better-than-expected earnings report and analysts suggest that both sides could be posturing before what could be an ugly takeover battle.
