Job Market Tough On Bay Area Teens
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5 / KCBS) ―
Bay Area teenagers are among those feeling the impact of a tightening market for jobs as competition heats up for even part-time work.
Dozens of local teens sought help this past week at the San Francisco Family Summer Resource Fair.
"Despite the fact that you don't necessarily have a resume or much experience, following up really matters. If you're able to follow up on that application, or that interview, that impression goes a long way," said Daniel Quon, a youth development specialist with the New Door Ventures program, which hooks up employers with at-risk teens who need work.
Employers across the country cut staffing levels by 63,000 positions last month.
