Bay Area Cities Urge Local Holiday Shopping
OAKLAND (CBS 5) ―
Most retailers are expecting a grim holiday season, and that's bad news for local merchants. Now several cities are urging to keep their holiday shopping at home.
Businesses in Oakland have joined the "
Shop Oakland" campaign to buy gifts in town during this make or break time of year. Elsewhere in the Bay Area, San Mateo is spending nearly $250,000 to promote downtown businesses while Lafayette merchants are also launching a buying local campaign.
