Some Energy Star Products Not Living Up To Labels

(CBS 5) When people go to buy appliances, they often look for the "Energy Star" label as a way to tell which products are energy efficient. But some manufacturers may be gaming the system to become certified.

Energy Star is a voluntary program run by the EPA that sets standards for energy efficiency on refrigerators, washers and dryers and other appliances, which is very popular with the public. But according to Consumer Reports, Samsung and competitor LG stretched the truth when they had select refrigerator models certified under the program.
