Anchor / Reporters

Lisa Chan

Lisa Chan co-anchors the Weekend Early Edition on CBS 5 and is happy to be back home in the Bay Area where she grew up.

Before moving back to California Lisa was an anchor/reporter in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at WITI-TV, the FOX station. Lisa received a Milwaukee Press Club award for her story about a woman who was recognized by Wal-Mart as the best greeter in the region. This woman even convinced a customer who was suicidal that life was worth living. But her most memorable story was interviewing a 20 year old woman from the 32nd military police company while she was home for a break from Iraq. Four months later Lisa had to go back to the same house to interview her family because the woman was killed when her humvee was attacked. She was the first female National Guard member from Wisconsin to die in Iraq. Her two sisters were also in the military, one was her twin.

Prior to working in Milwaukee, Lisa was the morning and noon anchor at the ABC affiliate in Kearney, Nebraska. She produced both shows and booked all the guests. She organized and hosted a live television debate on a controversial constitutional amendment to define marriage as a union between a man and a woman. Lisa also anchored for four continuous hours during President Clinton's first visit to Nebraska.

Lisa's career began in Lawrence, Kansas, as the education reporter, anchor and producer for an independent cable station. Lisa did her first live report on the state board of education's historic vote to de-emphasize the teaching of evolution.

Lisa graduated from UCLA with a World Arts and Cultures Major, and is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association. She lives in San Francisco with her husband and two cats, and is excited to be covering the news in the Bay Area.
