Joe Vazquez

In his 20 years in TV news, Joe Vazquez, anchor of CBS 5's Weekend Morning Edition has been on the constant move. His career has taken him from Texas to Philadelphia to the Bay Area. He has covered everything from fires and hurricanes to a finger in a bowl of chili. He has interviewed both George Bush's. He reported live just as the "Miracle Miners" were rescued in Pennsylvania. And, in the Fall of 2005, he covered Hurricane Katrina's devastation in New Orleans.

In 2001, Joe and his wife took a career break. They quit their jobs and spent six months backpacking around Europe. Their tour of 28 cities and 12 countries remains a major influence on their lives. While backpacking in September of 2001, Joe was called to work briefly by NBC News as a freelance correspondent in Southern Turkey, covering military operations near the Iraqi border.

Joe has a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Houston. He resides in San Francisco's North Beach with his wife and two sons.
