Jeffrey Schaub is the Green Beat reporter for CBS 5 Eyewitness News and takes great pride in covering environmental issues that impact Bay Area residents.

Previously, he served as North Bay Bureau Chief for CBS 5, covering the fast-growing region north of the Golden Gate including Sonoma, Solano, Marin and Napa counties. He's also covered energy and education stories, and has been honored for his coverage of critical transportation issues, stories which focus on Bay Area transit, commute, urban planning, and development.

Schaub began his broadcasting career as a general assignment reporter at WERS, the Emerson College radio station in Boston while he was a student there. He went on to work for a number of TV and radio stations including KSPN in Aspen, Colorado where he was the News Director and KTIM in San Rafael where he worked as the News and Public Affairs Director. Prior to joining CBS 5, Schaub was a morning personality for KGO-TV, San Francisco. In 1987, Schaub became Vice-President for Broadcast Operations for Traffic Central Inc., the Bay Area's largest traffic reporting firm. While there, he created the first 24-hour traffic service in Northern California and was responsible for designing the most extensive cellular traffic reporting program in California.

Schaub has received much recognition for his reporting. He won a total of three Emmy awards, one and an RTNDA award in 1993 for a half-hour prime time informational program on "Beat the Back-Up", CBS 5's multi-award winning commuter awareness public affairs campaign. He was also a shared recipient of a Peabody award for his on-air work on KCBS Newsradio during the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake.

Jeffrey is a native of Nantucket Island, Massachusetts, but now calls the North Bay home. He's the father of two young boys and enjoys the outdoors, hiking, music, and helping out in his community.
