Frank Viviano
Longtime foreign correspondent Frank Viviano offers CBS5.com's readers in the Bay Area and beyond his unique perspective on world affairs.
Viviano served as chief Asia correspondent, and later Paris bureau chief for the San Francisco Chronicle from 1988 to 2002, when he began writing for National Geographic Magazine.
He's lived and reported from Europe and the Middle East since 1990.
In a career that spans three decades from 1977 to the present, Viviano has covered wars and civil conflicts across the globe, the collapse of the Soviet bloc, Islamic fundamentalism and terrorism, U.S. immigration issues, the 1989 military crackdown at Tiananmen Square and across China, as well as the economic rise of East Asia.
His articles have appeared in more than 200 newspapers and magazines in America, Europe and the Far East.
He has also authored seven books, published in 14 countries worldwide.
